Year: 2016
ISBN: 978-90-79479-05-4

This publication accompanies the exhibition Fools’ Bells Fall in which the artists reflect on the character of the fool and the position of the artist in contemporary society. By using the tactics of the fool such as humour, deception, and cunning, they use their practice to deal with and subvert the hegemony of patriarchal-capitalist society and the positions allocated to them by that same hegemony as female, queer, precarious or otherwise marginal. This publication does not function as either the documentation or an explanation of the exhibition, but rather as another platform from which the artists reflect on the subjects at hand through writing, found images and previous works. As such it contextualises the works on show as well as the artists’ individual practices.
