In order to complement and expand the current board, Hotel Maria Kapel is looking for new board members who have affinity with contemporary art and the activities of Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn for 4 to 6 meetings a year and additional time for advice and controlling check-in moments of ±3 hours a month.

Hotel Maria Kapel Foundation is open to enthusiastic board members from various fields. Ideally, we will compose the board from members who have the following core competencies:
You have an affinity with the cultural field and contemporary art. We are looking for an ambassador for the program that takes place in the chapel with artists in residency and the activities around it.
You are able to carry out the vision of the foundation and have a well-developed social and political antenna.
You can quickly acquire overview and insight and assess outlines of policy and you dare to ask critical questions that test the core values of HMK against the policy being pursued.
You have knowledge of people. Think of HR and organizational psychology; an inclusion, representation or diversity worker, or an outreach, engagement and public affairs worker.
You have knowledge of the current position of HMK within the cultural institutional landscape and are aware of the developments within this area. In addition, you will help think about the future positioning of HMK in this cultural landscape.
You are no stranger to budgets and have a quick overview of numbers, budgets and business strategies. You have experience with financial processes (financial forecasting, annual accounts, final accountability to funds).
A legal background is an advantageous asset.
Because many fund applications and internal communications are in Dutch, it would be a plus that the board member has a command of the Dutch language.
Hotel Maria Kapel Foundation is looking for an addition to the current board which now consists of: Falke Pisano (Chair), Maja Bekan (Secretary), Suat Öğüt (Board Member) and Klaas Visser (Board Member). Because of the departure of the chair, the Hotel Maria Kapel Foundation is looking for new board members to complement the current composition of the board. From the new composition a new chair and treasurer will be chosen.
The board has an advisory and steering role and is in direct contact with the small team that shapes the program in the chapel. The initial point of contact is the artistic director with whom the board meetings will take place. The team also consists of the business leader, responsible for communications and program and a close-knit team of 10 local volunteers.
The Hotel Maria Kapel Foundation follows the Culture Governance Code and also endorses the Fair Practice Code and the Diversity & Inclusion Code. The foundation wants to contribute to better representation, and believes that diverse teams deliver more relevant work. Therefore, we explicitly invite candidates from diverse cultural backgrounds to respond, and look with extra interest at their application.
